If you already know a little Japanese, this learning game is a great way to practice the language in a very enjoyable way

Wagotabi: A Japanese Journey is a Japanese learning game with a simple pixel art aesthetic and a nice learning curve.

You can visit real life places and learn about them and the Japanese culture.

If you already know Kana (hiragana and katakana) and have a basic understanding of Japanese grammar, this game is for you.

We arrive at Japan to complete a family rite of passage: exploring the country and learning the language in order to defeat the masters of the prefectures than make up the country.

You play by exploring Japan and talking with the locals. You progress in the adventure by using your Japanese skills to solve quests, different situations and language focused puzzles.

The game focuses in the practical use of the vocabulary and grammar concepts it introduces. All the dialogue and sentences are dubbed so you are learning pronunciation too.

As a curiosity, the game menus gradually change to Japanese as you advance in your journey.

It’s a really complete learning game. At the beginning it looks easy but it soon starts challenging you at every turn.

I started studying Japanese by myself almost 2 years ago and I enjoy playing this game a lot.

It has become part of my learning process, it complements my learning with Kanji memorization and reading materials.

It’s a little addictive, to be honest, but I LOVE learning a new language so I may be biased :D
